Inclusive Education

BSNP is committed to advancing inclusive education, ensuring that all children, regardless of their abilities, have access to quality educational
opportunities. Inclusive education is at the forefront of our mission, promoting the idea that children with special needs should learn alongside their peers in a supportive and accommodating environment.

About this theme

In Zambia, the pursuit of inclusive education encounters significant challenges rooted in systemic inequities. Current statistics source reveal that nearly one in ten children with disabilities remain out of school, primarily due to social stigma, inadequate resources, and a lack of accessible infrastructure. In communities like Bauleni, situated in Lusaka, these challenges are particularly pronounced, with many children and youth with special needs not accessing education or receiving insufficient support within traditional school frameworks.

At the Bauleni Special Needs Project (BSNP), we acknowledge this pressing need for inclusive education as a fundamental human right and a critical element in fostering a more equitable society. By promoting inclusive education practices, BSNP ensures that all children, irrespective of their abilities, have access to quality learning opportunities that equip them for successful futures. Our initiatives not only aim to educate children with disabilities but also work to dismantle societal barriers, fostering understanding and acceptance within the community.

Our work & the Global Goals

BSNP's work in Inclusive Education is supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 4: Quality Education
