BSNP have been promoting livelihood intervention aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of families and individuals, particularly those with special needs. We recognize that economic empowerment is essential for fostering independence, improving quality of life, and ensuring the sustainability of families. The livelihood initiatives such trainings in financial literacy and entrepreneurship are aimed at
providing practical support and resources that enable families to attain sustainability.

At Bauleni Special Needs Project (BSNP), we recognize that economic empowerment is pivotal for fostering resilience and sustainability within our communities, particularly for families with children who have special needs. Engaging in climate-resilient livelihoods is not just an economic initiative; it is a moral imperative aligned with our commitment to improving the quality of life for our beneficiaries.

Many families in our community face systemic challenges such as poverty, limited job opportunities, and the adverse effects of climate change. When livelihoods are jeopardized by environmental factors like drought, floods, or economic instability, the welfare of children with special needs is often disproportionately affected. Therefore, BSNP is compelled to address these challenges by promoting livelihoods that are not only economically sustainable but also resilient to the changing climate.

By empowering families through climate-resilient practices, we aim to create pathways to economic stability and ensure that all children, regardless of their circumstances, can thrive through diversified and improved livelihoods. This focus, particularly among young people, leads to increased economic opportunities and income for families across our community.

BSNP employs a multifaceted approach to promote climate-resilient livelihoods through education, skill development, community engagement, and sustainability. Our programs empower families to create resilient income-generating activities despite climate change challenges.

Vocational Skills: Training in agriculture, food production, fashion design, and small business management enables families to establish sustainable income sources.
Climate-Resilient Agricultural Practices: We promote sustainable agricultural methods through training on climate-smart practices and small livestock keeping, enhancing productivity while minimizing environmental impact and ensuring food security.
Financial Literacy: Courses in entrepreneurship, saving, and financial management help families make informed economic decisions.
Training and Capacity Building: We offer various training programs to enhance community skills.

BSNP promotes climate-resilient livelihoods, recognizing the link between economic empowerment, sustainability, and social equity. By supporting families with children with special needs, we create opportunities for inclusive growth. BSNP climate resilient livelihoods programme fosters resilience, we ensure sustainable, diversified livelihoods, especially among young people, leading to increased economic opportunities and income.

In 2024, BSNP trained 130 youth via its market driven/ industry relevant TVET programme, training and preparing young people to be economically active and socially engaged. They have marketable skills, life skills, literacy and entrepreneurial skills, to ultimately start a business or secure employment, become more resilient, and are positive about their future. Additionally, 250 parents in entrepreneurship and SILC, empowering 100 parents and CBID with seed capital. Families have launched small businesses, improved savings, and enhanced food security. Some households now afford three meals daily.
