Our
Approach
Faith-based missionary approach to development provides a very distinctive and unique contribution to international development work. The SSHJM missionary development programme takes its inspiration from its Charism and Christian values, ethos, and approaches. Core principles and concepts such as human dignity, social justice, option for the poor, solidarity, subsidiarity, and care for creation are fundamental to the way in which SSHJM projects are designed and implemented for the benefit of the poor, vulnerable and marginalised.
The Bauleni Special Needs Project (BSNP) adopts a holistic and inclusive approach to education, prioritizing quality learning experiences for children with special needs and vulnerable populations. By implementing the 'furthest behind first' strategy, BSNP ensures that marginalized children receive the attention and resources they need to thrive. Comprehensive assessments help identify each child's unique strengths and challenges, allowing for tailored educational and therapeutic support. BSNP’s commitment to justice entails a duty to protect the dignity and the rights of all God’s people.
BSNP emphasizes community engagement, fostering collaboration with parents and local organizations to create a supportive environment for learners. Extracurricular activities, skill development programs, and integration into mainstream classrooms promote socialization and personal growth. By focusing on advocacy for child rights, BSNP works to dismantle societal barriers, ensuring that every child has access to quality education. This multifaceted approach not only nurtures academic success but also empowers families and communities, contributing to sustainable development and improved livelihoods.
