Bauleni Special Needs Project (BSNP) is managed by the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (SSHJM) an international Congregation of Sisters working in several countries, including Zambia, for over 60 years. They have been active in education, health, poverty reduction, and community development which are key to their missionary development work.

SSHJM- BSNP was established in 1995 to provide inclusive education, and since inception the Bauleni Special Needs Project (BSNP) has made significant impact in the lives of children and young adults with disabilities, the orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and their families, empowering them to overcome barriers, gain
independence, and realize their full potential.

The organisation , leveraging on SSHJM Charism and Catholic ethos, continues to work tirelessly to mainstream the rights and inclusion of its beneficiaries, while also collaborating with stakeholders to create a more inclusive and supportive community for all. Among the many services provided to children at the BSNP include, inclusive education, skills training, promotion of human rights and safeguarding, psychosocial support, physiotherapy, speech therapy and counselling.
In addition, BSNP has expanded its services to other parts of the country in supporting children and adults with deafblindness. BSNP seeks to position itself as a Centre of excellence in Disability Inclusive Development (DID), sharing God’s unconditional love for humankind and the planet.
